Pitchers have exploited a hole in his swing . He is young and will learn to adjust . Hit another one last night . He has been dropped to the 7th spot in lineup. Less pressure for now .

Re: Great season?
They kicked the shit out of CU in Boulder and I think that is 2 years in a row. CU is in a Power 5 conference and csu is in the MWC. It's time for CU to start acting like a Power 5 school in-state. You are an excuse maker. I want Power 5 results .

Re: Yes - I want to either pay the players or even the field
You can' t stop programs from wanting to excell. I understand your frustrations. If I understand your position you expect the conferences that put themselves in power positions after many years of hard work to let teams that sat back to walk in and get a cut ? It will never happen.

You probably could start a conference with only the real power programs . Let the rest have their own conference . Over the past 100 years csu and CU made different decisions that put them where they are now . If csu improves someday the will be include in expansion . The new stadium is a big step.

Let's look at ND . I guarantee you if they dropped their academic standards and open the doors to any JC kid
they would become a ligit power. They are where they are now because of a long history of tradition and a strong Catholic following . They are not a power by their own choosing .

BYU turns other conferences off IMO with their 2 year mission program and their aggressive prostilizing . Add to that some political views and the BYU TV network and you face challenges . These are decisions that are important to them. Others have different views.

This team looks pretty legit...
He's missed the Kershaw window. The Dodgers throw a lot of bad money around and are about as overrated as it gets. Clayton is a stud but what do they have after him? Seager and Pederson are nice young players but don't look like superstars. The OF is garbage and the bullpen pretty meh.

So goes the O-Line so goes the offense
Not sure who will get the starting jobs or majority of snaps. But I do think that Irwin, Lynott and Haigler will be in the mix.

I think Lynott is the only one who has true upper tier ability. Irwin he experience that will help. Not sure about Haigler as he seems a bit under weight.

I hope the Buffs can put a dominant line together. It has been a long time since depth has been this good.

I'm not going to defend the NCAA
Or schools like North Carolina and Penn St. You and I feel the same way about them.

However, paying players would kick off the ultimate arms race and teams like CU and BYU would get buried. There would be even greater separation between the have's and have nots. College football would be done.

The playing field will never be even. That's reality. College sports isn't Saudi Arabia where the king gives everyone a Toyota pickup. The traditional powers will always have an advantage and get treated like the favorite son. Schools like CU have to be creative and work twice as hard to be successful.

BTW I could tell you facts about BYU that I'm sure you wouldn't believe. They aren't as squeaky clean as you think. Same for the service academies.

Yes - I want to either pay the players or even the field
the way it is now, no second tier school can ever break through. Irish keeps arguing that BAMA has earned the permament right to be affixed in the upper echelons, with CU stuck with second tier forever.

Irish uses this theory to justify a system that perpetuates third tier status for everyone else. He defends the barriers to entry that protect Michigan and BAMA because those same barriers protect CU from the likes of CSU and BYU.

A system that winks at Michigan spending hundreds of thousands on a trip to Europe, while strichpktly punishing giving a few hundred dollars to a kid from a broken family serves only to protect the guys on top. In no place are the barriers to entry greater than in NCAA football. My favorite school (BYU) does everything at least as well as my second favorite school (CU) , and has done do for three decades but absolutely cannot gain admission to a major conference.

Irish (who I like very much) defends this caste system. I think it has become an abomination. So - pay the players. If some school like New Mexico wants to try to buy its way to the top, what, exactly is wrong with that. I know they don't have the money, but at least they could have the opportunity.

Instead, nothing is said or done about the atrocity that is North Carolina and that was Penn State. The pros have 100 times the integrity the colleges have right Joe.

Trevor Story's homers
An old colleague of mine points out that without Story's three homers this year, the Rockies are probably 8-9 instead of 11-6.

I will take good defense and power from a shortstop, even if his average isn't very good and he strikes out too much!

I have my eye on csu.
New stadium and big dreams . Their BB program could care less about recruiting HS players . The had a great season. Just win ! Their AD IS HUNGRY. Their FB program has hired back to back SEC coaches from great programs . Very little recruiting restrictions . Willing to roll the dice on kids. It will be interesting to see where they are 5-10 years from now. If they can start dominating the MWC they will become a prime target for expansion with good attendance . Remember the Turtle and the Hare ?

Re: 7/15 during Boyle era. Too bad we don't have domestic ballers to consider.
2017 will be a big year for Tad . He finds himself in a rut. I once read a quote that said " A rut is just a grave
with both ends kicked out." He totally lost control with some players last year . As you point out he seems to be weak developing players . Some seem to regress. Shooting the ball is a challenge .

NCAA doesn't care about an
all-expenses paid trip to Europe for the whole football team, as long as walk-ons don't get to eat at the training table.

Nickel and dime
Absolutely correct, Irish.

It seems to me that many other schools have figured out that they have to spend money to make money. An athletic department is an investment.

You're against an arms race but you want schools to pay players??
That is the ultimate arms race and would give a huge advantage to the richer athletic departments.

Re: Michigan
Just another gimmick. These top programs have built a great brand over many years. They have built a massive fan base. I think teams like Bama and Ohio St had thousands attend their spring games. They are money making machines. UM 's AD is 240 million in the red. Most is due to stadium improvements. That debt will not even make them blink.

In the mean time you have many programs like CU just limping along . It is a absolute shame that CU does not have all the major sports like the rest of the PAC 12. We all love CU but compared to the Big Dogs CU is a nickel and dime operation. We can't be jealous. It is what it is. Take a look at Clemson's new facilities. It even has putt-putt. LOL

Tell you what - I'm sending my kid to Michigan
Those guys get trips to Europe. Kids at CU ain't going anywhere.

This is a real problem. Yes - it is nice, but it blows up the differences between schools, favoring the richer schools over those without the money.

i could live with this if the NCAA just got honest - schools should be able to pay whatever they want to players, in whatever form.

You make my point
The NCAA itself is allowing this. When it comes to the big boys they get anything they want. And that means the institution is corrupt.

Key phrase " not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation"...
and that covers hundreds of exceptions. Do regular students get X boxes, fancy watches, clothes, $300 gift cards for going to bowl games?

7/15 during Boyle era. Too bad we don't have domestic ballers to consider.
Haven't some of his "chose to leavers" made quite a mark elsewhere?

Maybe this coaching squad enjoys international travel.
Looks to me regardless of where they're from, players rarely if ever improve under Boyle and don't appear to be enjoying the game. I guess that makes everyone he recruits "uncoachable" or not "team players."

Outside of Tomlinson the international players
haven't done much at CU under Boyle. Hopefully the current 3 reverse that trend.

Nikolic is a 6-foot-6-inch guard from Belgrade, Serbia. He is the 15th international basketball player for the Buffaloes since the mid-1950's and the seventh in the Boyle era.- CU Buffs.com

"Lazar is a big guard with a very good feel for the game," Boyle said. "His size and skill allow him to be very good playing in a pick and roll situation. He can make plays for himself and for others. Additionally, he is a very good rebounder."
